Spring Repair

Sample entry: this shows the kind of garage door or gate job we handle. The photo and details are illustrative, not a record of a specific customer job.
A torsion spring snapped on a cold morning, leaving a single-car door under a townhouse stuck shut with the car inside. Both springs were replaced and the door rebalanced.
The problem
The garage sits below the living space with only a narrow strip of wall beside the door. One of two torsion springs had split, and the opener had been pressed several times before the owner noticed, so the top section and opener rail needed checking as well as the springs.
What we did
- Secured the door and released tension from the remaining spring
- Installed a matched pair of torsion springs sized to the door's weight
- Inspected cables, drums and the top section for strain from the opener
- Balanced the door and reran the auto-reverse and photo-eye tests
The result
The door lifts smoothly by hand and stays put halfway up. The opener runs without straining, and the owner was shown how to spot a worn spring from the floor before the next cold snap.
